Torino Deny Bianchi Rumours

While Torino president Urbano Cairo admitted that they are looking to add to their attacking options during the January transfer window, he suggested that the club’s fans should not get their hopes too up high that the reinforcement will come in the form of a big name.

"We are waiting to see if we can sign a player that will cover one of the weaknesses this team has," he said.

"There is the possibility of strengthening our attacking line but Lucarelli and Bianchi will involve extremely complex negotiations and we don't want to mislead our fans."

The Italian sports papers have been full of stories linking Torino to Shakhtar Donetsk's unsettled Italian star Cristiano Lucarelli as well as Bianchi, with ‘Tuttosport’ going as far as claiming that the Granata have already contacted Manchester City over the possibility of a deal through fax.

The reports go on to claim that Torino would like to sign Bianchi on loan with the option to sign him at the end of the season to bring him back to Italy in order to give them much needed firepower up front.

Indeed, with just 15 goals in 17 games, the Toro have one of the most ineffectual strike forces in the Serie A, which is a big reason why they are just three points above the dreaded drop zone going into the second-half of the season.
