Tajikistan Hire Pulod Qodirov

The 44 year-old replaces Makhmadjon Khabibulloev who resigned last month after the Central Asian nation were eliminated from 2010 World Cup qualification by Singapore.

Qodirov led the nation to third place at the 2006 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-16 Championship and also took the U-17 team to the 2007 World Cup.

Unsurprisingly, he is happy to give young players a chance at the senior level as Tajikistan prepare to defend their AFC Challenge Cup title.

“I have to build the team spirit first. Definitely I will open the door for the young players although we will still keep the experienced players as well,” said Qodirov according to the AFC’s official homepage.
