Napoli coach Edy Reja was disappointed with his side's exit from the Coppa Italia. The Partenopei drew the game 1-1 but where knocked out on aggregate 3-2 after the 2-1 first leg defeat in Rome.
Igli tare opened the scoring for the visitors and Maurizio Dommizzi replied for the home side but it was not enough.
Reja is sad at being eliminated as this was a competition he wanted to do well in but he is looking for revenge when Lazio play Napoli again next Sunday in the league.
“We played well and we put some pressure on them but we were not able to take our chances. Then we made too many mistakes by giving the ball away and we were punished,” said Reja.
The coach was happy with the teams attitude and response after going a goal down.
“We tried hard but we were unlucky, we created some good chances, but unfortunately we didn’t take advantage.”
Napoli meet with Lazio again in Serie A Sunday week and Reja believes his side can beat them then.
“We will try to get revenge for this result when we play again next Sunday.”
Napoli now have to concentrate on getting into the UEFA Cup for next season as they have no other commitments.
