English Premier League club Wigan Athletic FC have signed Honduran international midfielder Wilson Palacios from Deportivo Olimpia for an undisclosed fee.
Reunion
The 23-year-old has agreed to a three-and-a-half year deal at the JJB Stadium and will be available for the Latics' away game against Derby County FC on Saturday after receiving international clearance. Palacios had been on loan at Wigan's top-flight rivals Birmingham City FC earlier this season, making seven league appearances, and was brought in when current Wigan manager Steve Bruce was in charge at St Andrews.
Bruce delighted
Palacios, who has represented his country on 41 occasions, said: "I am really happy to sign for Wigan. I like Steve and think it is an ambitious club that is going places. I can't wait to get started." Bruce added: "I know Wilson well and have seen what he can do. He has great strength and vision. He gives everything to the cause and I am looking forward to welcoming him into our team."
