Le Mans took revenge for their elimination at the semi-final stage last season by beating tormentors Lyon 1-0 at home in the quarters of the Coupe de la Ligue.

Lyon tried to press in the second period, but offered little by way of attacking threat. That said, Karim Benzema could have sealed it right at the death with a close range finish, but found his shot blocked.
Gones' Coach Alain Perrin said afterwards, "We're very disappointed, knowing that we needed to give everything to qualify.
"It wasn't that bad, but there wree too many technical shortcomings.
"We lost this game in the first half - thereafter, Le Mans played very well to defend their lead."
