BV Borussia Dortmund striker Alexander Frei is poised to resume training after a seven-month injury lay-off, and could feature for Switzerland in their forthcoming friendly against England.
Two weeks' notice
The 28-year-old has not played this season after complications following hip and calf surgery. However, Dortmund team doctor Markus Braun has said his player "should be back in action within two or three weeks".
England trip
The Switzerland captain, who has 32 goals from 56 internationals, therefore has a chance of making the squad to take on Fabio Capello's England at Wembley on 6 February. Frei's last club appearance was on 12 May 2007, when he scored in a 2-0 defeat of FC Schalke 04. He struck 16 goals in total last season after moving to Dortmund from Stade Rennais FC in summer 2006.
