Eriksson Receives Bojinov Boost

Manchester City's summer signing from Fiorentina, 21-year-old Bulgaria international striker Valeri Bojinov, ruptured his knee ligaments early in the season, having only made three appearances for Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side before suffering the injury.

But he should soon be back in action, and his return will be like City signing a new player in the current transfer window.

Bojinov is on schedule to regain match fitness by the start of February, even while Eriksson continues to be linked with a number of the world's leading strikers.

Eriksson said of he Bulgarian: "He is taking part in training but cannot have the contact yet. He will be able to join in full training about January 20 - and that is one month ahead of what we thought.

"It is like having a new signing. He is quick, very strong, explosive with good technique and I can promise you a very hungry footballer.

"He wants to be successful at Manchester City. He has been working very hard to get back."
