The Werder anchor man’s contract is up at the end of the season and a number of clubs including Bayern Munich and Hamburg are monitoring him.
The latest club to be linked with the former Werder amateur are Spanish side Atletico Madrid, who see him as the ideal replacement for Maniche.
According to Spanish paper ‘AS’, Madrid will look to sign Borowski for the start of next season to make up for the loss of Maniche, who is widely tipped to be leaving the capital club.
However, Werder have made it clear that they want to keep hold of the player, but with rumours of tension between the player and trainer Thomas Schaaf, it remains to be seen whether the 27 year old international will remain at the Weser Stadion.
