Taddei Rejects Azzurri Possibility

The 27-year-old is undoubtedly one of the best wingers in Serie A but he has never been capped by his native Brazil.

As the ex-Siena man holds an Italian passport he eligible to represent La Nazionale and there have been strong reports that Donadoni would like to call him up for Euro 2008.

“I want to thank Donadoni for the support he has shown for me,” said Taddei.

“However I will continue to hope for the Selecao call out of respect for the Italian players trying to get a place in the side.”

Taddei also expressed his hope that Roma team-mate Amantino Mancini will stay at the club. The ex-Venezia star’s contract with Giallorossi runs out in 2009 and negotiations to extend his deal have not gone well so far.

“He is a Roma player and he has shown his dedication over the last few years,” Taddei stressed.

“His professionalism is beyond reproach. I hope that things work out well and he stays with the Giallorossi.”
