Simao: Raul's Goal Wasn't Pablo's Fault

Simao has told Marca of his belief that the entire squad - not just error-prone Pablo Ibanez - was to blame for his side's loss to Real Madrid.

The Atleti winger sighed, "If there's guilt, it falls to all of us, because Pablo does not play alone.

"One player fails on one occasion, then on another day it's me or someone else. This is football - we can't blame one player, because all of us lost.

"We could have drawn that game, but Real Madrid have [goalkeeper Iker] Casillas, who is very impressive and must be congratulated.

"Once Madrid scored that second goal they were the best team - their experienced players know how to control a match.

"We played well against a good team, and had our chances, but lacked luck."

Speaking about the squad's reaction to the 2-0 home defeat, he said, "We were frustarted. Once again we lost to Madrid, against whom we have no luck, and it was very close.

"But now we need to continue, because we need to face Valencia for a Champions League spot, which is very important. That's where we want to be in the Liga.

"This was just one game. We can't give up - we have quality, a good squad, and good players.

"The fans? They were undoubtedly spectacular and unforgettable. When we got to the stadium there were so many people, which doesn't usually happen two hours before a game.

"We appreciated their support and tried to win, but couldn't. Still, in other games, they'll leave happy."
