Sergio Ramos Suspended As Madrid's Defensive Woes Worsen

Top against distant bottom should be a formality, but Real Madrid may need to watch their step away to Levante this weekend.

The granota side held city rivals Valencia to a draw this weekend and will thus be high on confidence; now, back at their own stadium, they'll hope to shock the league leaders, who will need to make do with an ailing defence.

Gabriel Heinze is out for around two months with a muscle injury sustained in the 2-0 win against Zaragoza at the weekend, while Fabio Cannavaro is a major doubt. These two are also set to miss the midweek Copa game against Mallorca.

Sergio Ramos, meanwhile, picked up his fifth booking in that victory over the Romareda outfit, but will not be suspended for that Cup game. Instead, he'll miss the Levante trip.

Christoph Metzelder is out of action or another fortnight, and Pepe is a minor doubt, meaning that it could well be a very much makeshift Madrid defence that competes in these two fixtures.
