Parry Denies Benitez Talks With Owners

News of Parry’s scheduled trip to America inflamed suggestions that Liverpool’s uninspiring FA Cup third round 1-1 draw against Luton Town in midweek was the last straw in an already strained relationship between Benitez and owners, George Gillett and Tom Hicks

However, Parry was quick to dismiss such claims, insisting that the trip had been pre-planned for months and that it was arranged solely to discuss plans for the construction of the new stadium.

"It's been in the diary for a long time, to discuss the stadium," Parry told the Liverpool Echo.

Benitez’s tenure at the Reds has recently come under fierce speculation, some of which has been orchestrated from within the club, over recent disappointing results and player unrest.

Yet the manager and many players have repeatedly insisted that everything within the dressing room is fine.

Of course, there has also been the highly-public row between the Spaniard and owners that initially sparked rumours that the successful manager would be axed.

But since then both parties have made statements refuting any charge that they are due to part ways.

Meanwhile, as title rivals Arsenal and Manchester United continue to extend their lead over Liverpool in the league, all eyes shall be on Anfield to see how the 'Benitez/Hicks&Gillett' saga unfolds.
