The former France midfielder Vikash Dhorasoo has retired at the age of 34 after failing to find a club following his release by AS Livorno Calcio. "I'm a little bit sad," he said. "But happy as well as I know it's the correct decision."
Title glory
Born in Normandy to parents from Mauritius, Dhorasoo was developed at Le Havre AC's renowned centre of excellence. After 138 league outings he left for Olympique Lyonnais in 1998 in a €5m transfer. He won three French titles at Lyon either side of a season on loan at FC Girondins de Bordeaux before joining AC Milan on a free in 2004.
Winning goal
Dhorasoo struggled in Italy and was an unused substitute in the 2005 UEFA Champions League final defeat by Liverpool FC, but would claim a winners' medal of a different sort the following year in Paris Saint-Germain FC colours after scoring the decisive goal in the French Cup final victory against Olympique de Marseille. Dhorasoo left PSG ignominiously that November and has not played competitively since. He won 18 caps for France, scoring once.
