Neville Prepares For United Return

After a lengthy spell on the sidelines prolonged by numerous niggling setbacks, Manchester United captain Gary Neville will finally pull on a Red Devils shirt once more as he takes part in a reserves matcht tonight.

United's second string will take on Everton's back-ups at Widnes Vikings' Halton stadium in a game that marks Neville's first appearance since he damaged his ankle ten months ago.

The England international has resumed training in recent weeks but was not rushed into Premiership action by Sir Alex Ferguson, who prepared to play safe and stick with Wes Brown.

"We have to look about, maybe even practice matches and that sort of thing to get some more intensity into his training," commented Fergie over Neville's situation.

However, after his last practice outing in November in a one hour Seniors Cup match against Stockport the defender's recovery plan was actually knocked a step backwards.
