Everton are enjoying a superb season, having leaped ahead of arch-rivals Liverpool in the race for the fourth Champions League spot, cruised into the knock-out stages of the Uefa Cup and reached the semi-finals of the Carling Cup.
They take on Chelsea tonight at Goodison in the second leg of their Carling Cup semi, attempting to overturn a 2-1 deficit from Stamford Bridge to set up a final against Tottenham Hotspur.
But whatever the outcome tonight, Cahill wants Moyes to stay and finish the good work he's started.
Moyes is widely admired for what he has done at Everton - and the Toffees' board has been commended for keeping faith with the Scottish manager through thin times as well as thick since he was appointed just under six years ago.
His work on Merseyside has inevitably attracted potential suitors - his name was linked, briefly, with the Newcastle vacancy and he has even been spoken of as an eventual successor to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United - but Cahill believes Moyes does not need to seek success anywhere else.
"Managers' jobs are hard to keep these days but he is building something special," said the goalscoring Australian midfielder.
"I think it would be a hell of a waste if he walked away.
"I think he is here for the long haul. He's a great manager and done very well.
"He has got so much to achieve with us. He can see a goal and we can see a goal. He has made us all part of it."
