McLeish To Seek Fletcher On Loan From Ferguson

It is being reported that Birmingham City are keen to take Darren Fletcher on loan from Manchester during the January transfer window - and the move could appeal to Scotland internatuional Fletcher, whose opportunities in the United first-team have become severely restricted since summer signing Anderson began to make his presence felt, and with fellow new signing Owen Hargreaves and veteran Paul Scholes also in front of him in he qyueue for central midfield places at Old Trafford.

However, it is not clear that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will be willing to loan out Fletcher, even to Alex McLeish.

Ferguson, who admires Fletcher's game, will no doubt want a full squad in the coming weeks and months as United do battle for honours on three fronts, including the demanding Champions League.

McLeish, getting to grips with the challenge at Birmingham, knows all about what Fletcher can offer from his time as he Scotland national team manager.

Like Fergie, he is a fan of the 24-year-old, who has so far made only nine Premiers Leagie appearances this season for he defending champions.
Meanwhile, McLeish has given a trial at St Andrew's to AIK's 23-year-old Liberia international midfielder Dulee Johnson.
