The Nerazzurri lost 2-1 to the Brazilian outfit yesterday evening, with Luis Jimenez’ goal sandwiching strikes from Fernandao and Nilmar.
“We wanted to win this tournament, but it isn’t important now,” Mancini claimed.
“It was a tough game against Internacional and it was what we needed to be at our best for the Siena game.”
Inter qualified for the final by beating Ajax on penalties on Saturday, following a 2-2 draw.
This weekend they resume their Serie A calendar after the winter break with a trip to Tuscany to face Siena.
“On Sunday, when Serie A restarts, it will be a totally different game,” Mancini said confidently.
“The result will really count then and it won’t be easy against Siena.
“I am very happy with how the winter camp has gone. We have trained well in the perfect climate.
“The lads have worked hard and played two proper tests, rather than friendlies – that was crucial after the break.”
Meanwhile in the third-and-fourth playoff of the Dubai Cup, Stuttgart beat Ajax 1-0.
