Leeds United continue to publish what they consider to be the ‘real’ league table in their matchday programme. Such was the case at the weekend League 1 clash with Doncaster Rovers at Elland Road.
Leeds were docked 15-points ahead of this season – a Football League punishment for their continued financial mismanagement.
Chairman Ken Bates also published some controversial remarks in the latest programme, outlining his intention to take his grievances surrounding Leeds’ docked points all the way to the High Court.
"We have decided to sue the Football League direct," Bates wrote.
"The more our legal team have dug into the matter, the shambolic administration of both the FA and the FL makes it essential that our grievance is aired before a truly independent body - namely the High Court."
Leeds might have stormed to the top of the table this season, despite the huge deficit. Their first competitive derby with Doncaster was a bizarre affair for the fallen giants, who were beaten 1-0 after a clever Brian Stock free-kick.
Leeds, then, may fight their case all the way to the courts. Still, they must remember that winning League 1 isn’t a formality, or things could get a lot worse for the fallen giants.
