The K-League club, one known for its youthful talent, started well under coach Senol Gunes last season before fading badly.
Lee, a former South Korean international who played at the 2002 and 2006 World Cups, believes that young players have it too easy in the modern age and warned them that the season ahead could be a tough one.
A tough tackler on the pitch, Lee pulled no punches off it.
“These days, the young players have excellent abilities but they think about themselves and think if they play well then that’s enough,”growled the ex-Trabszonspor midfielder.
“That’s why they give up easily when they encounter any difficulties.”
“This year I will push the players. If the team gets good results, that is also good for the players. This year will be different.”
Despite his comments, the ‘Turkish Warrior’ singled out young Seoul midfielder Lee Chung-yong as special. “He has lots of skill and a strong will. He has a bright future," said the captain.
