Ahn is currently a free agent after spending last season with Suwon Samsung Bluewings. The Gyeonngi Province club are eager to re-sign the player and another former club, Busan I’Park are also interested.
A host of other would-be suitors in Korea, China and Japan have been scared off by Ahn’s demands, including appearance and goal bonuses, which, according to the media, would cost around $900,000 a year.
Busan are actively pursuing the 31 year-old and have let it be known that while they can’t give Ahn everything he wants, the club, where the player started his K-League career, is willing to negotiate.
A source close to the south coast outfit told Sports Khan: “We can’t satisfy all of the conditions but we haven’t given up on signing Ahn.”
Busan hope that the chance to play under former international team-mate and new coach Hwang Sun-hong could appeal to the Lord of the Ring.
“Busan is the best place for Ahn to get back to his old self. Coach Hwang knows Ahn well and can help him recover his best form.”
Meanwhile, Suwon coach Cha Bum-keun has told the ex-Metz and Duisberg player that he will be welcome to return to the Big Bird Stadium for another year.
