Torino suffered a heavy defeat in tonight's Coppa Italia match against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico (4-0). The granata returned home eliminated, conceding four goals and scoring none, after winning the first leg 3-1.
At the end of the match, coach Walter Novellino was bitterly disappointed: "At the moment we have to stay quiet, let's allow others to do the talking. Aside from the episodes, the close calls, I think a game like this cannot finish 4-0. [Philippe] Mexes threw himself on the ground for the penalty, but won't comlpain too much about those things."
About Francesco Totti's entrance in the second half, which saw the Roma captain score a brace, he said: "We were all a bit conditioned by that. In the first half we did very well, but then quality makes the difference in the end.
"Totti came in, a great player, and it showed. Too bad we're out, because we did have the chances in the first half. It's an unlucky period for me, but of course that doesn't take away from Roma's qualities," Novellino concluded.
