Capello A Ruthless Winner - Wenger

There have been suggestions that Don Fabio will rate attitude and commitment highly, and not hesitate if he has to humble some big names.

Tough decisions over David Beckham, John Terry's captaincy, the central midfield partnership and the goalkeeping spot need to be made, and Wenger - who has faced Capello at club level - insists the Italian will keep emotions at bay.

"Capello will do the job seriously," said Wenger. "He will bring his experience and winning desire to the job.

"But he will also be ruthless. He is a winner and he will do the job in a straightforward way."

There has been much said about whether England actually have the quality in their ranks, with many suggesting that the players are hugely over-rated.

"You have the players," insisted Wenger. "OK, there are two or three positions that are too weak but there are others where England competes with the best in the world."

David Beckham is one of the players whose future will be a subject of much scrutiny. The winger is training with Arsenal, and wants to be fully fit for his 100th cap in February.

"David is not fit yet but he will get physically fit," he added. "He has a special regime run by our fitness coaches, so if he can pay us back by giving advice to our young players that would be great."
