Blackburn Matchwinner Roberts Wants More Chances

Match-winner Jason Roberts is hoping that his decisive contribution in the final quarter-hour of Blackburn's 2-1 win over Bolton will "put pressure" on Rovers' boss Mark Hughes to give him more first-team opportunities.

Striker Roberts demonstrated both power and pace after Roque Santa Cruz set him up to go on a marauding run that ended with an injury-time strike into the bottom corner that completed Blackburn's comeback from a goal down to Bolton at The Reebok.

Christopher Samba had equalised for Blackburn in the 53rd minute, after Kevin Nolan opened the scoring for Bolton with a magnificent first-half volley from a narrow angle.

"It's obviously been disappointing not to play many games - but I think today I showed a little bit what I can do," Roberts told Sky Sports.

"It's been frustrating with injuries since I came to this club. But I think I'm ready to play; I've been ready for a while now and I want to put pressure on the manager and show people what I can do."

Asked about his future, Roberts said: "It's not really in my hands at the moment. I just want to play football."
