Duff Optimistic Over Keegan Future

The former Blackburn and Chelsea wide man has been beset by injuries during his spell on Tyneside over the past year and a half, but made a return to first team action recently and hopes that Keegan’s arrival can spur him on to the kind of form he was bought for.

Two defeats to Arsenal and a draw with Bolton has not made for the most dramatic of starts for Keegan in his second spell in charge of the Magpies, and when asked, Duff was confident Keegan was the man to turn things around.

“I’d like to think so, when you look at the teams he’s had in the past” Duff was quoted as saying by The Irish Daily Mirror.

“Especially at Newcastle I think the wingers then were a big focal point in the team, along with the strikers.

“So I can’t wait to start working properly with him. Obviously, he has only been in a week or so and we haven’t had time to work on the training ground with him because of the games, but I’m just really looking forward to the future there with him.

“It’s really good, really positive. The gaffer has been brilliant, even though we haven’t won a game if you don’t count Stoke [in The FA Cup] since he came here.

“But the place is buzzing. He’s a God up there, the fans love him.”
